A Food Day they won’t forget.
October 24th, 2012
Our message to Congress has been clear all year: we need an equitable, sustainable farm bill, and we need it this year.
Unfortunately, either Congress didn’t hear us, or they just didn’t listen.
Congress left town just as the current farm bill expired, and they didn’t bother to finish a new bill or extend the old one, leaving critical food and farm programs high and dry with no funding. So now, as we prepare for their return to the Hill in just a few weeks, we’re letting Congress know once again we need a 2012 Farm Bill – only this time, we’re not asking.
When Congress returns after Election Day we’ll be here in DC – with thousands of signatures in hand – telling Congress we can’t end the year without a 2012 Farm Bill. We’ll have signatures from farmers seeking the tools they need to succeed in the field and in their local communities; advocates working to ensure access to fresh, healthy food in schools and for those in need; and concerned citizens anxious for real reform of farm subsidies and the elimination of wasteful direct payments.
Sign your name and tell Congress we need a 2012 Farm Bill that:
- Invests in the future of healthy farms, food, and people
- Protects our precious air, soil, and water, and
- Reforms farm subsidies and levels the playing field.
Thank you for all you do,
Sarah and Shavaun, The NSAC Grassroots Team
P.S. Stay tuned for ways you can have impact after the petition is delivered – and mark your calendar for November 15 for a national day of action!
