The National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture is a diverse nationwide partnership of individuals and grass roots organizations working toward policies for food and farming systems that support healthy rural communities. Through our five issue committees, our Policy Advisory Committee and in consultation with our Board, the National Campaign has developed Farm Bill priorities around organic agriculture, conservation programs, rural development, competitive markets, renewable energy and other issues crucial to the future of rural America. You can read the full set of our priorities here at: farm_bill_priorities.php
Imagine a 2007 Farm Bill that:

- Provides a “fair share” of agricultural research funding and improved data collection for organic food and farming.
- Provides full funding and a nationwide sign- up for the Conservation Security Program to reward farmers for undertaking new conservation measures on working farmlands.
- Puts an end to Packer price manipulation by banning Packer ownership of livestock and guarantees the collective bargaining rights of contract farmers free from retaliation.
- Fully implements mandatory country of origin labeling (COOL).
- Creates a Rural Entrepreneurs and Micro-enterprise Program to provide training, technical assistance and micro-credit to rural entrepreneurs.
- Increases funding for the Farmer’s Market Promotion Program to support direct marketing and the Value Added Producer Grants Program to support on farm ventures that will add value and farm income.
- Increases funding and expands Outreach and Technical Assistance Programs for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.
- Reduces regulatory barriers to small scale livestock production and processing.
- Ensures that conservation and local ownership are central features of agriculturally based renewable energy production programs.
- With your help we can win a 2007 Farm Bill that serves our interests; A Farm Bill that supports a healthy rural environment and a healthy rural economy.
