Farmer Fly-Ins

The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) works with its member organizations to regularly provide opportunities for farmers and ranchers to directly participate in shaping federal policies and programs through initiatives such as “fly-ins” to Washington D.C., where sustainable agriculture practitioners can speak to policymakers.

Many NSAC farmers and representatives of member organizations have been invited to testify before Congress on a wide array of issues and have held key national advisory roles.  The farmer fly-in approach has proven to be most effective in communicating the real needs of sustainable producers to members of Congress.  Ultimately, the face-to-face interaction and sharing of stories helps to ensure that federal programs have real and effective results on the ground for farmers and their communities.
