Beginning Farmer Development Program Workshop

June 29, 2012

On Tuesday July 24, USDA will hold an online workshop for participants and stakeholders of the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP).  The purpose of this workshop is to obtain stakeholder feedback on the last three years of the program for use in the preparation of future Request for Application (RFA), should the program be continued as part of the new 2012 Farm Bill.

Click here for the FY 2012 RFA.  Workshop participants are encouraged to use the 2012 RFA as a guide for discussion.

More information on BFRDP can be found here and information on the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Opportunity Act can be accessed here.

The online workshop will take place on Tuesday July 24 from 3:00-4:30pm EST.  Click here for information on accessing the workshop.

The 2012 Farm Bill passed by the Senate on June 21 includes $17 million per year for BFRDP for the years 2013 through 2017.  Consideration of the bill in the House will begin in the House Agriculture Committee on July 11.
