The National Center for Appropriate Technology and the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition held a webinar yesterday that addressed when and how to terminate cover crops and maintain eligibility for crop insurance coverage of subsequently planted cash crops.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has developed cover crop termination guidelines that were recently updated to address this issue.
The webinar featured presentations from experts in cover crops, conservation, and crop insurance who helped develop the guidelines, and whose presentations and responses to participant questions provided helpful information and clarification for many who could be affected by this policy. Over 600 people participated in the webinar.
The webinar has been archived and you can view it anytime through the National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service (ATTRA) website: https://attra.ncat.org/video.
