The Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service will be presenting a webinar on the Cooperative Interstate Shipment Program.
The Cooperative Interstate Shipment (CIS) Program was authorized in the 2008 Farm Bill with the purpose of expanding market opportunities for small meat and poultry processors. CIS allows state-inspected meats from qualifying plants to be shipped across state lines. Ohio and Wisconsin were the first two states to qualify for the program, and the webinar will feature state inspection program directors and plant operators who will provide an overview of how the program has been going so far and what the process is like for processors interested in qualifying for the program.
The webinar will take place on Tuesday, February 4 from 1-2pm Eastern Time.
