To commemorate National Farm to School Month, NSAC is sponsoring Kids Dig Farmers Day – a time to celebrate the connections happening around the country between schools and local food producers! NSAC advocates for farm to school policies that increase the supply of fresh, local food to schools – a win for farmers and for kids!
Today is also a day to take note of the fact that the future of farming is at risk. The average age of the American farmer is now 57, and the fastest-growing group of farmers are those 65 years and older.
We need to “grow” new farmers to ensure a healthy future for America’s children.
