Spanish Edition of NSAC’s Grassroots Guide to the 2008 Farm Bill

April 1, 2011

A result of a coordinated effort between NSAC and the Agriculture and Land-Base Training Association, the Spanish Edition of the Grassroots Guide to the 2008 Farm Bill is now available to download from our website.

The Spanish edition of the Guide walks you through seven of the 2008 Farm Bill programs important to sustainable agriculture.  It is a guide to new policies and funding opportunities for farmers, ranchers, and grassroots organizations that serve beginning, minority, and women farmers and ranchers.

The farm bill programs covered in the Spanish Edition include:

  • Conservation Stewardship Program
  • Environmental Quality Incentives Program
  • Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers
  • Farmers Market Promotion Program
  • Community Food Project Grant program
  • National Certification Cost Share Program
  • Organic Conversion Assistance

The Spanish Edition also includes basic information about special cost share or funding set asides for beginning, minority, and women farmers within these programs.

This is not a digest of the entire farm bill— the Grassroots Guide to the 2008 Farm Bill highlights a subset of the programs and policies that were NSAC’s farm bill priorities that we feel will best serve socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers.

We welcome your feedback on this tool as well as reports of your experiences using these programs.
